No trip to Paris is complete without visiting the famous Île de la Cité island and the iconic Sainte Chapelle chapel. Discover these two famous landmarks of the French capital when you take our fantastic guided tour.
Ile de la Cite and Sainte Chapelle Tour
We will meet up at Jean-Paul II square at 2 pm, in front of the majestic Notre Dame cathedral, one of the oldest and most famous Gothic temples in the world. From there, we begin our fantastic guided tour of the Île de la Cité island, the heart of Paris.
We will learn all about the history of this natural island located on the river Seine. The important monuments, historic buildings, and idyllic squares make this the political, cultural, and spiritual center of France.
The Cathedral has been closed to the public since the fire in April but we will admire it from outside before heading to the bustling Place Louis Lépine flower market. Then later, we will see the imposing Conciergerie building which during the French Revolution, held prisoners waiting to be sent to the guillotine.
The tour will also take us to another famous monument of medieval Parisian architecture: Sainte Chapelle chapel, where the kings of France were crowned.
We will admire the famous stained glass windows of the monument, which beautifully depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments. The colorful, intricate detail of this decoration will leave you speechless.
After we have visited the church, the tour finishes at 4:30 pm.
