Discover the scandals and glamour of the Palais-Royal as well as one of the city's beautiful landmarks with this Paris Covered Passages and Royal Palace Free Tour.
Paris Covered Passages + Royal Palace Free Tour
At 2:30 pm we'll meet at the Musée du Louvre metro station to start our free tour around Paris' covered passages and the Palais-Royal. Paris has a lot to offer and this tour is the ideal option for rainy days in the French capital!
The tour will start by visiting the Palais-Royal, also known as the Cardinal's Palace. Did you know that it was commissioned by Cardinal Richelieu? Together with English speaking guide, we'll discover the interesting story behind this building.
Then it will be time to explore the covered passages. Since the 19th century, these have been a favourite for Parisians to have an afternoon coffee, to do some luxury shopping or simply to take a walk.
We'll start at the Galerie Vivienne, over 170 metres long. This passage is considered one of the most beautiful in Paris, especially because of its impressive floor mosaics and elegant glass ceilings. Inside you'll find restaurants, shops and high fashion boutiques... The surprises never end!
Next, we'll visit the charming Passage des Panoramas, the oldest covered passageway in Paris and one of the busiest in the city. Once upon a time, you could admire paintings depicting views of important European cities such as Rome or Paris itself.
The tour will continue to the Passage Jouffroy, the first gallery completely constructed with glass and metal. But it doesn't end there! To conclude our free guided tour, we'll also visit the Galerie Colbert, the Passage Verdeau and the Paris Stock Exchange. Three places not to be missed!
The tour will end between 3:45 pm and 4 pm.
If there are adverse weather conditions then the tour won't go ahead.
